In Plain Terms

This paper presents HackerVote, a method for figuring out which members of an online hacker forum to remove in order to most disrupt how information and tools spread through the community. Using network-science measures of who is most central, it identifies the highest-impact targets more effectively than existing approaches. A case study simulating takedowns on a real long-running forum shows how law enforcement could use it to plan more effective crackdowns.
